Interesting information about the project

One structure, multiple applications – a multi-fuel and additive storage tank

Scandinavia is known for its demanding climatic conditions, high technical standards, and strong emphasis on infrastructure reliability. This was precisely the context for one of our recent projects – the delivery of a fully integrated four-compartment storage tank. We executed a turnkey solution for an aboveground fueling station based on a horizontal cylindrical tank with four compartments, offering a total capacity of 35 m³ and a diameter of 2,500 mm. The tank is designed to simultaneously store and dispense three types of media: diesel fuel (in two separate 10 m³ compartments), petrol (10 m³), and AdBlue® (5 m³). It is a solution tailored for users who expect maximum functionality and full operational independence.
Thanks to the four independent compartments, our client gains complete control over fuel supply while benefiting from significant space savings and reduced installation costs. It is a prime example of system integration that enhances day-to-day operational efficiency without compromising on safety or ease of use.

Structural integrity and operational safety

The tank was manufactured in accordance with EN 12285-2 from certified carbon steel grade S235JR. Both the internal and external surfaces were prepared by shot blasting and subsequently protected: externally with a C5-class epoxy coating suitable for the harshest corrosive environments, and internally with Steopox 270 paint. The tank is equipped with an SGB DL 280 leak detection system, providing continuous monitoring of fuel compartment tightness and significantly contributing to environmental and operational safety by minimizing the risk of hazardous substance leakage.
As standard, the tank is fitted with a service platform with safety railings and an access ladder, ensuring quick and secure access to all media inside. The design also includes a dispenser platform and a protective roof with integrated lighting. Upon client request, we installed an electrical cabinet and a pump as additional equipment.

AdBlue – a unique medium with specific requirements

One of the compartments was dedicated to the storage of AdBlue – an aqueous urea solution widely used in selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems for reducing nitrogen oxide emissions in modern diesel engines. AdBlue requires constant and controlled thermal conditions – it crystallizes at -11 °C and its quality can degrade if overheated. Therefore, the AdBlue compartment was:

  • fully insulated with mineral wool and enclosed with aluzinc sheet,
  • equipped with heating cables on both the suction and filling pipes,
  • supplemented with an internal immersion heater.

A compact solution for multiple applications

The use of four independent compartments within a single compact structure directly addresses the needs of users for whom efficiency, flexibility, and smart space management are key. This type of tank replaces multiple standalone units, streamlines logistics, and reduces operating costs – all while ensuring full compatibility with modern dispensing systems. It is yet another project where our technical expertise meets real-world user demands.
