Aboveground 120 m³ heating oil tank – reliable fuel supply for heating boilers
In many industrial facilities and large commercial buildings, a stable heat source is essential for maintaining operational continuity. One of the commonly used solutions is a heating system powered by heating oil, which provides high efficiency and independence from the gas grid. For the entire system to operate safely and reliably, a properly designed fuel storage tank is essential.
As a steel tank manufacturer, we provide solutions tailored to the individual requirements of each project. For one of our customers in Poland, we manufactured a 120 m³ double-wall aboveground steel tank, with a diameter of 3,200 mm, designed for the storage of light heating oil.
Heating oil tank as a key component of a heating system
Modern oil-fired boilers are valued for their high efficiency, automatic operation and ability to quickly adjust heating output to current demand. Once the operating parameters have been set, the system requires very little intervention while providing a stable heat supply to the facility.
However, continuous operation requires a properly selected fuel storage tank in which the heating oil is stored. From the tank, the fuel is supplied through piping to the burner, where it is atomised and combusted, transferring energy to the heating system. For operators requiring high heating capacity, rapid system response and energy independence, oil heating remains a proven and highly efficient solution.
Why is the right heating oil storage tank so important?
Light heating oil is a fuel used in high-capacity heating systems. It has a high calorific value of approximately 42.6 MJ/kg and a flash point of at least 56°C, which allows for safe storage and operation when appropriate requirements are met.
To maintain the required fuel properties and ensure reliable operation of the system, the heating oil must be stored in a properly designed fuel storage tank that protects the stored medium from external conditions.
Ekonstal project – 120 m³ double-wall aboveground steel tank
For our Polish customer, we manufactured a 120 m³ double-wall fuel storage tank with a diameter of 3,200 mm, designed for storing light heating oil used to supply heating boilers.
Such a large capacity allows a substantial fuel reserve to be maintained, reduces the frequency of deliveries and helps ensure uninterrupted operation of the heating system even during periods of high heat demand. The double-wall tank construction provides an additional level of storage safety.
In accordance with the customer’s requirements, the steel tank was insulated with mineral wool, while the insulation was protected with an aluzinc sheet cladding. This solution reduces heat loss, protects the insulation against weather conditions and helps maintain the required temperature of the stored fuel, which is important for the proper operation of the entire system.
The tank was also equipped with a complete set of nozzles arranged and manufactured according to the customer’s requirements, allowing it to be seamlessly integrated into the designed process installation.
This project is another example of our capabilities as a steel tank manufacturer. We manufacture both standard solutions and large-scale industrial storage tanks designed according to the specific requirements of each project.
Manufacturer of steel tanks for fuel and industrial liquid storage
For many years, as a steel tank manufacturer, we have been designing and manufacturing fuel storage tanks, industrial storage tanks, underground fuel tanks and aboveground steel tanks for storing various types of liquids. Each steel tank is designed according to the customer’s individual requirements and the specific conditions of the planned installation.
Projects such as this 120 m³ double-wall fuel storage tank demonstrate our ability to deliver even demanding large-scale projects while ensuring high manufacturing quality, safe operation and long service life.
