Interesting information about the project

Proper storage of substances used by producers operating in the food industry and food processing sector is a key aspect that affects the quality of the finished product intended for consumption. It is necessary to take care of such tank parameters as:

  • tightness,
  • durability,
  • safety of use,
  • resistance to changing weather conditions.

Vertical tank for cooking oil storageAdditionally, raw materials and semi-finished products used in the food industry must be safe for human health and life. It is depended by their storage conditions. Among them is e.g. appropriate temperature and hygiene understood as limiting contact with factors that may affect the contamination of these substances or accelerate their chemical decomposition and spoilage.

For the order of one of the producers from the food industry, operating on the international market, we made a vertical single-skin tank with a capacity of 75 m3. It will be used to store cooking oil. Due to the need to ensure the appropriate temperature of this medium, we designed, manufactured and installed a special heating coil inside the tank. It has precisely selected heating power. In addition, after delivering the cooking oil tank to the site, we also made an additional layer of insulation. These two structural elements will allow to heat the contents of the tank. It will guarantee the maintenance of the physical and chemical properties of the stored oil. As a result, this vertical tank with coil and insulation can therefore be used for both short-term and long-term storage of food materials.

Why was the outer insulation layer made only at the target location? As a vertical tank, it is only 8.5 m high. (It is worth mentioning that we have carried out orders in which we delivered vertical tanks up to several meters high. See an example of a vertical lubricant tank). However, the diameter of 3,800 mm made the transport of this cooking oil tank a huge logistical challenge. For this reason, we decided to install some structural elements only after delivering it to the place where it will be used. In this case, it was about those elements that could additionally hinder the loading and transport of the tank.
