Interesting information about the project

Durability and structural integrity always play a crucial role—regardless of whether the tank will be used in an area with a stable climate or in a region known for sudden weather changes. Iceland presents a unique challenge in this regard. However, our experience and know-how ensure that the tanks we offer are capable of withstanding even such demanding environmental conditions, including large temperature fluctuations, frequent precipitation, and exposure to seawater.

5000-liter tank – a universal solution for various industries

For one of our clients in Iceland, we produced six steel tanks with a capacity of 5000 liters each. Thanks to their relatively small dimensions, this type of tank can be easily used in both agricultural farms and various production and service companies, where efficient fuel logistics matter. The common denominator here is quick and easy access to infrastructure that allows for refueling one’s own fleet of machines and vehicles.

At the client’s request, the tanks were coated with a specialized anti-corrosion paint (C5 class) in pure white. Why? First and foremost, the C5-class white coating is less susceptible to intense fading caused by sunlight compared to colors like red, green, or navy blue. Thanks to this, even after many seasons, the tanks maintain a high level of aesthetics. Additionally, white color reflects more UV and infrared radiation than darker colors. This may contribute to keeping the surface temperature of the tank lower, which, in turn, can to some extent reduce the heating of its contents and lower the energy demand needed for cooling.

All tanks produced for this order have the same specifications:

  • Type of construction: cylindrical, horizontal tanks.
  • Number of walls: single-wall tanks.
  • Number of chambers: single-chamber tanks.
  • Capacity: 5000 liters (5 m3).
  • Diameter: 1600 mm.
  • External anti-corrosion protection: C5-class coating, ensuring the highest level of corrosion protection (as the place of operation is Iceland, a region where the weather is not only capricious but also unpredictable).
  • Internal anti-corrosion protection: Temaline TL coating, a specialized epoxy coating providing anti-corrosion protection for surfaces that come into direct contact with chemical substances, fuels, oils, and other petroleum products.

Each tank has been equipped with two stainless steel pipelines. The first pipeline allows for filling the tank after connecting it to a fuel tanker. The second pipeline is designed in such a way as to enable the supply of diesel fuel to the dispenser. This solution means that each of these 5000-liter tanks can function as a compact fuel station for refueling one’s own fleet of vehicles and machines. It is particularly useful where quick access to diesel fuel is essential and reducing technical downtime is a priority.

These small 5000-liter steel tanks are perfectly suited for companies operating in various industries, from agriculture to construction. If necessary, the tanks can be equipped with additional fittings and accessories that provide even greater functionality and ease of operation.

External coatings – guarantee of durability and aesthetic appeal

External coatings play an important role in maintaining the 5000-liter steel storage tank in perfect condition for many years. Their primary function is protection—safeguarding the steel against corrosion, UV radiation, and mechanical damage. When selecting a specific coating system, it is essential to consider local weather conditions, such as rainfall frequency and temperature fluctuations.

The C5 anti-corrosion paint (which we applied to these 5000-liter tanks) was specifically developed for use in harsh environments where humidity, variable temperatures, and exposure to seawater pose significant challenges (e.g., in the northern climate of Iceland or coastal areas).

The C5-class coating forms a highly impermeable, uniform layer (free of microcracks or excessively large pores), which significantly hinders contact between aggressive corrosive agents and the steel. It is highly resistant to cracking and mechanical damage, while also adhering well to the surface, effectively protecting it against external aggressive factors. Additionally, it provides high protection against UV radiation, preventing damage such as peeling or cracking, which could be caused by sunlight.

Adapting the coating properties to the specific operating conditions of the tank helps avoid additional costs associated with unplanned repairs. The C5-class coating significantly extends the lifespan of the structure and ensures long-term protection even in demanding industrial and marine environments.
